Dr. Tedros Adhanom, Head of the World Health Organization (WHO)
Dr. Tedros said he was concerned about the potential crisis in the distribution of the vaccine.
Speaking at the World Health Organization (WHO) Board of Trustees meeting; Many rich countries have reported violations of the Global Vaccination Process (COV).
Covax is a platform for collaboration to distribute the vaccine fairly to the people of the world. Covax facilitates access to the vaccine, especially for poor countries.
According to Dr. Tedros, rich countries are storing vaccines for their citizens in violation of the Kovax vaccine distribution process. This puts poor countries in trouble.
“The world is on the brink of a catastrophic collapse. This fall is killing people in poor countries and making life difficult,” he said.
“Even though I’m talking about equal distribution of vaccines, some countries and organizations are prioritizing bilateral agreements other than Covax.
He said that if the distribution of vaccines was not fair, it would not be able to stop the epidemic and that the human and economic crisis caused by the disease would not stop.
Dr. Tedros emphasized that the way rich countries are moving towards ‘priority for us’ is putting poor countries and their citizens in trouble.
He also said that this approach will not benefit even rich countries.
“This race will prolong the duration and damage of the epidemic.
“The distribution of vaccines should be fair, not only morally but also economically,” he added.
